About Us

lindsay

Lindsay–I’m 24  years old, I graduated from Appalachian in May 2012 with a degree in Sustainable Development concentrating in Sustainable Agriculture. I’m from Raleigh, NC. I love reading, writing, climbing, singing, farming and exploring! I can’t wait to see where this year will take us, and I am especially looking forward to learning from and becoming friends with people from all different ages and walks of life.

Lauren–I’m 23 years old and graduated from Appalachian State University in August 2013 with a major in Secondary English Education and a minor in Social Work. I’m from a very small town near Asheville, NC. I like writing, reading, photography, hiking, running, creating art, and (obviously) gardening. I’m very excited about this trip and getting to share our experiences with friends, family, and readers!

Jaimie–After walking across a stage in a cap and gown after four years at Appalachian State, I had the realization that I am just a “twenty-something” now–and there’s nothing too special about being 22 except for the fact that I have had 8,030+ days of splendor and trial, but mostly splendor, thus far.  For my own sake, I have had to distinguish myself from student life, letting go of my attachments and desire to have a role in this place that has been a home for four years.  So, that leaves me as a just a 22 year old woman with a degree in Sustainable Development: Community, Regional, and Global Development, originally from Southeast east eastern, NC, looking to call other places “home”…for at least a while in our year of travel.  In the meantime, I’ll try to do the small things I love like serving as I am able, scampering in wilderness areas, collecting wild edibles, reading, consistently writing, and perhaps even painting.
